Prof. Dr. Korhan Taviloğlu was born in Istanbul in 1962. After completing secondary and high school at Robert College (1980), he graduated from Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1986. He completed his General Surgery residency at the same institution in 1991, became associate professor in 1996 and professor in 2002. He served in the Department of General Surgery at Istanbul Faculty of Medicine from 1987 to 2009. After Acıbadem Hospital Kadıköy (2003–2008) and Florence Nightingale Hospital (2008–2012), he has practiced at Taviloğlu Proctology Center since 2012.
His clinical interests include constipation, obstructed defecation, anal hypertonia (anismus), and surgical and non-surgical treatment of anorectal diseases (proctology). He completed postgraduate training in general and laparoscopic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, USA, 1992–1993), and later trained in robotic surgery (Strasbourg, 2009), laser surgery (Madrid, 2009), and proctologic laser, fistula and hemorrhoid surgery (Cologne and Rome, 2015).
He has authored 142 scientific articles (53 international, 89 national), 43 book chapters, and 8 edited books.
