Prof. Dr. Cumhur Arıcı was born in İzmir, Turkey in 1965. He graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1990 and completed his residency in General Surgery at Istanbul University Istanbul Medical School between 1991 and 1996. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2003 and to Professor in 2009.
He pursued advanced international training in Endocrine Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), USA, and in Breast Surgery at the Senology Clinic in Düsseldorf, Germany. He currently serves as Professor and Head of the Department of General Surgery at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, where he is also a member of the University Senate. In previous years he held senior administrative positions at Akdeniz University, including membership of the Faculty Board and the University Executive Board, Chair of the Surgical Departments, and Advisor to the Rector.
He maintains his clinical practice as a Breast and Endocrine Surgeon in his private office, and currently serves as the President of the Antalya Breast Diseases Society. His main areas of expertise include breast surgery, breast cancer, and endocrine surgery (thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal).
